Stop cropping your memories to fit social media. The fastest way to add a clean, high-quality white border to your photos — without ever uploading them to a server.
Most "free" editors force you to upload your photos to their cloud. We don't.
Your 20 MB professional JPGs process in milliseconds because they never leave your computer. No spinning loaders, no failed uploads on slow connections.
Your photos stay yours. We don't see them, we don't store them, and no data ever touches our servers. Processing happens entirely in your browser's memory.
We extend the canvas around your original pixels. No forced re-compression, no watermarks, and no blur. The white border is simply added — your image stays pristine.
Drop an entire photoshoot at once. Process 50+ high-res images and download them all in a single ZIP — perfect for prepping a gallery series or content calendar.
Choose Square (1:1) or Portrait (4:5) to perfectly frame your photo for the Instagram feed — no manual math, no cropping.
White is the classic choice, but our color picker and eyedropper let you sample any tone directly from your photo for a sleek monochromatic frame.
Adding a professional frame to your images shouldn't take more than a few seconds.
Drag and drop one or a hundred images into the tool. JPG, PNG, and WebP are all supported — no conversion needed.
Use the slider to choose your thickness. Select Square (1:1) or Portrait (4:5) to perfectly fit Instagram without cropping.
Hit process and save your new images instantly. Batch jobs are neatly packaged into a single ZIP file, ready to post.
The white border look has become one of the most recognisable styles on Instagram. What started as a practical workaround — adding white space to prevent automatic cropping — evolved into a full visual identity. Gallery photographers, portrait artists, and lifestyle creators use it deliberately to give their grids a clean, consistent, editorial feel that stands out in a scroll-heavy feed.
The effect works because it gives each image breathing room. Instead of a photo bleeding edge-to-edge, the white frame acts like a mat in a physical gallery, drawing the eye inward and giving your composition the space it deserves. When applied consistently across a series of posts, it creates a cohesive, professional aesthetic that signals intentionality to your audience.
The typical "free" online photo editor has a dirty secret: free usually means your data is the product. Every image you upload passes through a third-party server, is stored (sometimes indefinitely), and is subject to privacy policies that most people never read. For photographers working with client portraits or confidential commercial shoots, that is a genuine risk.
There's also the pure speed problem. Uploading a batch of 25 high-resolution RAW-exported JPGs — often 10–20 MB each — on a home broadband connection can take several minutes before processing even begins. Border Boost sidesteps this entirely. Files are read directly from your disk into the browser's memory using the File API, processed with the Canvas API, and handed back to you as a download — all without a single network request.
When you drop images into Border Boost, each file is decoded into an HTMLImageElement and drawn onto a Canvas element sized to your chosen output ratio. The white border is the canvas background — the original image is drawn centred on top. The final canvas is exported via toBlob() as a high-quality JPEG or lossless PNG. For batches, the files are compressed client-side using JSZip and delivered as a single download. Nothing is sent over the network at any stage.
Speed and privacy are non-negotiable. Here's how we compare.

In an era of data harvesting, we believe your creative work should remain private. Border Boost does not have a "backend" for your images. Everything happens in your browser's temporary memory. When you close the tab, the data is gone forever. We never see your photos, we never store them, and we never will.
